After the Funeral

A shy figure crept out of darkness
    Tossed coins upon the grave.

    Coffee-eyed relatives
    Clucked about the steamy kitchen
    Eating mincemeat pie.
God love him, moaned a fat one.
    Others muttered this and that
    Was what he loved.

    His final words unspoken
Soap at the mouth of the dead
    Bubbled upward
    Through fresh turned loam.
